Core Projects and Venue Construction
KENTEN undertook the construction of core temporary facilities in Beijing Winter Olympics, including supporting tents for Olympic Village and multiple competition venues. For example, in the Olympic Village, KENTEN designed a large sports event tent group for athletes’ rest area, media center and temporary dining area. Its modular design enables the tent to be quickly deployed in severe cold environment and meet the complex space requirements of Winter Olympics, such as setting up heating system and windproof barrier to ensure that the internal temperature is constant above 18°C.

Key Technology: Cold Resistance and Flexibility Design
Climate Adaptability: Beijing’s winter temperature is as low as -20°C. KENTEN tent uses double-layer insulation PVC tarpaulin and thickened aluminum alloy frame to resist external low temperature through internal hot air curtain system. This technology has been verified in the outdoor tent of 2022 F1 Miami Grand Prix for its adaptability to extreme climate.
Fast setup and disassembly: During the Winter Olympics, KENTEN completed the installation of multiple security inspection tents within 72 hours for the entry security of spectators and staff. The tents are equipped with an efficient security inspection equipment integration solution, which can handle 5,000 people per hour during peak hours.
Case highlights: security inspection and brand collaboration
Security tent solution: Referring to the experience of the Zhuhai Air Show Security Inspection Tent Project, KENTEN designed an integrated security inspection channel tent for the Winter Olympics, combined with an intelligent gate system, to maintain stable operation in a sub-zero environment.
Historical experience and global capabilities
KENTEN has continuously served many international events since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, including providing temporary tent facilities for 32 Olympic venues. Its accumulated modular solutions and cross-domain collaboration capabilities (such as the real-time response mechanism with the Winter Olympics logistics team) enable it to efficiently respond to extreme weather and emergency adjustment needs in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
With many years of experience in serving large-scale events and modular technology, KENTEN achieved the goal of “temporary facilities are not temporary” in the Beijing Winter Olympics. From cold-resistant design to intelligent integration, its solutions not only ensure event operations, but also implement sustainable concepts through flexible reuse mechanisms.
